The Heartland Cafe

If you are ever in Chicago, go to Rogers Park and try the Heartland Cafe.
It is a cultural icon in a very diverse neighborhood.
Takes you back in time a little bit, to the 70's, hippies, activists and all.
The food is great, too, lots of vegetarian choices.
Local politicians and even Barack Obama held rallies there.
A unique place to visit.

Have a great weekend and enjoy your summer!

Street Art in Rogers Park

That's why I love Chicago,
there is always something new to discover.
Rogers Park is a neighborhood on the north side of Chicago,
on Lake Michigan.
Very hip and diverse.
Can't wait to go back.

Have a great Sunday!
And for us soccer fans, may your team win.

I love, love, love Chicago...

Saw these colorful trees around a playground by the lake shore in Chicago on our recent trip.
Sure brightens up the landscape, made me smile.
I do love Chicago!
This city has something for everyone.

Taste of West Africa

We always like to explore new flavors, so we were pleasantly surprised when
we discovered a wonderful restaurant in downtown Fayetteville, NC, on our recent trip.
The food is truly unique and delicious.
The ladies prepare everything fresh.
I had the spinach stew with waakye rice and fried sweet plantains.
This was the first time I tasted food from Ghana and I am very impressed.
Awesome!!!
Definintely a place to go back to.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Finally, it's here...

S  P  R  I  N  G

„Frühling lässt sein blaues Band
Wieder flattern durch die Lüfte;
Süße, wohlbekannte Düfte
Streifen ahnungsvoll das Land.
Veilchen träumen schon,
Wollen balde kommen.
Horch, von fern ein leiser Harfenton!
Frühling, ja Du bist 's!
Dich hab’ ich vernommen! “
von Eduard Mörike 1829

Spring lets her blue ribbon
Flutter in the breeze again;
Sweet, familiar scents
Drift with promise o'er the land.
Violets lie dreaming now,
Soon to be awakened.
—Listen, the sound of a harp,
    so faint from so far!
Spring, it is you!
I can hear you coming!

Thought I would show you some pics from our trip to the beach in North Carolina.
I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
